Bound photocopy of typescript 1983 political science dissertation from U of Massachusetts. Examines key historical developments to evaluate the conversion of the Post Office Dept. into a quasi-corporate federal service. A couple of small pencil marks, otherwise fine.

A handful of light penciled lines in margins, and slightly bumped top corners of covers. Book examines how mail transmission affected literature, mainly in Europe.

Except for lightly penciled purchase info, the book is in perfect shape.

The binding is good, but the paper cover of the binding is torn. No marks in text

Signed by author. Top of dj rubbed and tear on bottom of dj. No marks other than penciled name of owner and previous seller.

Inscribed "To Hank Smith with admiration and friendship. Bob Baker." Henry Ladd Smith was a professor in the School of Communication, U of Washington-Seattle. Baker began his advertising career in Seattle. Book is tight, clean; the only mark other than the inscription is an owner's name in ink.

Traces the enactment of rules, enforced through the Post Office, that required periodicals attest to their circulation figures, label ads that might be mistaken for editorial content, and publish statements identifying owners--all Progressive Era goals. Like new--no marks.

Bound photocopy of two-volume typescript 1973 political science/public administration dissertation from Northwestern U. Very detailed examination of the process that transformed the Post Office Dept. into the U.S. Postal Service. Text on a few of the early pages is faint.

Examines how ten countries modernized their postal systems in the face of electronic communication. Focusing on Europe plus Canada, New Zealand and Australia, the author divides the approaches into four models.

Reprint of 1847 edition. Great condition. No marks other than lightly penciled name of owner.

Although it's an x-l copy, the only marks are a faint stamp on the back cover and another on the title page. Tight binding, no marks in text.

Solid copy with some penciled underlining and a few lightly penciled marginal comments. Owner's name in ink on inside cover.

Essays in English and French explore aspects of postal history, letter-writing practices, and communication in the United States and Canada. Other than owner's name penciled inside cover, the only condition issue is a very small corner bump on back cover.
